Instructor Training - Fundamental of Chi sao
by
lomankamwingchun
on Sun 25 Mar 2007 12:25 AM EDT
Chi sao (sticking hands ) is an unique exercise that only Wing Chun has other
martial arts doesn't have. Chi sao is the heart of Wing Chun. It prepares the
students for fighting by developing and increasing their skills of
covering, contact feeling, sensitivity, reflex reaction, and other more. That is
why to be an instructor on learning how to teach Chi sao and "Lead Chi
sao" are very important in the entire Wing Chun training process. Knowing
the way of teaching can reduce students' learning times on the new exercises;
also, easier to let students understand the ideas behind the movements.
At Mar.17 & 18, Sifu Gorden Lu had 2-day seminars at Neu-Anspach, Germany to provide his
experience and instructed on "How to teach" Chi-sao by using practical
teaching methods and followed with curriculum that he learned from his father
Sifu Lo Man Kam and his kung fu uncle Sifu Duncan Leung to a group of Wing Chun
instructors from Lo Man Kam Wing Chun Association Germany. Photo page link: http://lomankamwingchun.blogharbor.com/blog/Photos/Seminar/2007/Instructor2Germany

Traveling To Taiwan and Hong Kong from the online magazine Wing Chun Teahouse :
In August 2006,
Marc Debus, Frank Kuhnecke, Andreas Zerndt and Clarissa Muzammil from the
German Lo Man Kam Wing Chun Association travelled to Taipei. The
reason therefore was a training session in Sifu Lo Man Kam’s house. Lately, it’s
been very hot in the Republic of China and
as a consequence the training was strenuous. Most of the time, a lesson lasted
about four hours a day. Sometimes, Sifu Lo Man Kam gave extra training lessons
in the afternoon for his German school leaders.
A visit to the Taiwan
Police headquarters was an extraordinary aspect of our stay. We had a chance to
see the training of the police S.W.A.T. classes which are instructed by Sifu Lo
Man Kam. He’s been training the Police for the Taiwanese government for
approximately 20 years. On the day we went a delegation from Japan
presented Kendo and Jiu Jitsu skills… >>

Chinese New Year
by
lomankamwingchun
on Fri 27 Jan 2006 02:52 PM EST

(year begins on 1/29/2006)

<2006 is year of dog >
The Dog is a giving, compassionate personality. He offers kind words, support and advice to friends and family. He is a listener, always available to lend an ear or a shoulder to a friend in need. Often Dogs know more about their friends than their friends know about them or even themselves! Dogs are incredibly attentive. Sometimes though, Dogs should pay more attention to their own needs. In private, many Dog people worry a lot.
Years of the Dog
Eleventh in the cycle, Dog Years follow the Rooster years and recur every twelfth year. The Chinese New Year does not fall on a specific date, so it is essential to check the calendar to find the exact date on which each Dog Year actually begins.
1910*1922*1934*1946*1958*1970*1982*1994*2006
THE SIGN OF THE DOG
Dogs can be a bit overwhelming, due in part to their attentive natures. They can march in and take control of a situation, even when it doesn involve them directly. This can lead people to think Dogs are nosy or gossipy, but in reality, he just means well. Money and status don matter to the Dog. He is more concerned with the welfare of his family and friends and will do whatever it takes to help them out of a tight squeeze or a rough spot. Once Dogs determine a subject of interest, they usually master that before taking off for a new adventure. They like to finish what they start. They are honest and trustworthy people, ethically strong and morally kept. They make loyal friends and companions.

Many of these students have gone on to open schools of their own, and further pass on Sifu Lo's unique insights to a new generation of Wing Chun practitioners. In addition, since the Federation's beginning, the Taiwan Government has invited Sifu Lo to participate in the curriculum design and teaching of Chinese martial arts to police and military authorities, thereby improving the effectiveness of their fighting techniques.

Sifu Lo Man Kam |
| |
|
The nephew of Grandmaster Yip Man, Sifu Lo Man Kam began learning Wing Chun Kung Fu from his uncle at a very early age. To this day, he still progresses in Wing Chun, continually seeking to expand an already profound understanding of his art. Using his vast knowledge of martial arts, he has integrated Wing Chun’s proactive approach with joint locking and throwing skills to form the foundation of the Taiwan police martial art curriculum. He has further extended Wing Chun's philosophies and theories to apply to everyday life. |
In 1974, Sifu Lo Man Kam established the first and only Wing Chun Kung Fu school in Taiwan. Distinguished as an unparalleled teacher, he has helped spread the Chinese fighting arts throughout the world. His school resembles a United Nations of Kung Fu, with students from 34 countries and territories: including Switzerland, Germany, the USA, France, Israel, Canada, Poland, Belgium, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Thailand, Hong Kong, and many others.
Through his efforts, he has shared this aspect of Chinese culture, and has become something of a cultural ambassador for the Chinese people. Of course, Wing Chun is well known in martial arts circles as Superstar Bruce Lee's first fighting style. In fact, Sifu Lo was the giant's third senior kung fu brother in Hong Kong, and perhaps it is also this fact that draws so many foreigners to his school to join the Chinese who train there.
|

|
Sifu Gorden ...... after many years of learning, teaching, and developing Kung Fu, Sifu Lo Man Kam has also passed his art down to his son Sifu Gorden Lu in hopes that a new generation of Grandmaster Yip Man’s family will continue to lead in the promotion of Wing Chun. After completing study of the system under his father, Gorden continues to broaden his knowledge of Wing Chun under the tutelage of Sifu Lo’s close friend and junior brother, Sifu Duncan Leung. |
Living in America, Gorden has started teaching, using a fresh perspective and youthful enthusiasm to guide his students. At the same time, he maintains the classical training methods handed down from his father and kung fu uncle, thereby combining the modern with traditional, and help the foreigners easily to understand and appreciate Wing Chun Kung Fu.
Because of Sifu Lo's international reputation, kung fu schools from around the world seek out Sifu Lo to speak at seminars and demonstrations; both Sifu Lo and his son Gorden personally teach, making these events lively and exciting, and further helping participants to absorb the art. As such, they are the only Father-Son team to conduct seminars in American and European martial arts circles.
|
Currently, Sifu Gorden has followed in his father's footstepsholding the classes to develop Wing Chun at Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA . |
